The new rules allow SDS applicants to meet the English language requirement with an overall band score of 6.0 on the IELTS Academic test without the need to meet a minimum score in each individual skill.

The new rules apply to all SDS applications received on or after August 10, 2023. Applicants who submitted their applications before August 10, 2023, will still be subject to the old rules.
