PTE Speaking and Writing Syllabus

Pte Course Similar to the name, this section aim at testing the candidate’s skills based on their communication including spoken and written skills. There will be six small sections there that will test the candidate’s promptness over speaking and writing. The written test objective lies in checking further the ability of applicants and how effectively they can read the entire content for the first time. The time duration given to complete this section varies from 77 to 93 minutes.

The syllabus includes:

Segments Pattern Time Duration
Personal Introduction 55 seconds: 25 seconds for prompt, 30 seconds to record
Read Aloud 30-40 seconds to prepare for reading out the text of 60 words
Repeat Sentence 15 seconds: 3-9 seconds for prompt, 15 seconds to record
Describe Image 25 seconds are granted to study the image as well as prepare your response on the same
Re-Tell Lecture 90 seconds for prompt length, 10 seconds to prepare, and 40 seconds to answer
Answer Short Question 20 seconds: 3-9 seconds for prompt, 10 seconds to answer
Summarize Written Text 10 minutes to answer to text prompt of 300 words
Essay 20 minutes to answer to text prompt of 2-3 sentences

PTE Reading Syllabus

This section is included in the test to check the candidate’s written skills in English. The section is further divided into 5 segments that are 32 to 41 minutes long.

PTE Listening Syllabus

The duration of this section is almost 45 – 57 minutes. It is designed to check an individual’s spoken English skills. In this task, students are supposed to carefully hear the audio files played and retain what they hear. This section is segmented into 8 segments.
