One of the most prestigious and renowned scholarships among international students, the Chevening Scholarship provides financial aid for one year Masters degree in the UK. The scholarship has been sponsored by the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office since 1983. Over 50,000 Eligible students have been awarded the scholarship for their leadership and academic excellence since 1983.
Chevening Scholarship Important Dates 2025-26
The 2025-26 Chevening Scholarship is open for application, ending on 5 November 2024 at 12.00 (GMT). Awardees will be announced in June 2025. The duration of the process of selection is around 8 months after the application deadline.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible applications go through the selection process. Ineligible applications are rejected.
- The student is a national of a Chevening-eligible country.
- The student has a genuine intention of returning to home country within two years of ending the scholarship.
- The student has at least two years of work experience of a full time work, part time job, voluntary work or a paid/ unpaid internship.
- The student has an undergraduate qualification that is eligible for a UK Master’s program.
- The student makes applications to three different and eligible UK programs, having received an offer letter from at least one of them before the chevening scholarship last date.
- The applicant meets all the English proficiency and University Course requirements.
Steps to Apply for the Chevening Scholarship
- Select your country from the official Chevening website and start the application process.
- Submit the online registration form with an email and phone number. An email will be sent with the link to the application portal.
- Answer the eligibility questions. You will be able to check if you passed. If you fail and think it was the wrong result, you have two more attempts. If you are successful, an email will be sent with the application link.
- Take a note of the access code on your screen to gain access to your application.
- Fill personal details, immigration details, academic background, work portfolio, study programs, referees, essay questions, etc. Remember to save your progress so you don’t get logged out of the system.
- Give consent to the terms and conditions and click submit.
Finalized candidates will be invited for an interview. Selected candidates will join a Chevening community for over 60,000 alumni. These students have access to various cultural, academic and professional opportunities. 1500 awards are available in 2024 for international students in 160 countries.
